Russel sat at the table in the lounge between alarms. Flipping through the channels, he finally found a good movie starring Harrison Ford. He decided to watch it. Sighing, he looked at the clock. 8:00 pm. He had a full forty-eight hours left on Black Shift. Then Red Shift would come in and relieve them. Then it was Black Shift's turn again. Each shift was two days long. All firefighters had to be alert on their shift. An alarm could go off at any time.

Hoofbeats clomped loudly on the hard floor of the fire house as a large black horse entered the room. Keagan paused in the doorway, hands in his jean pockets. He shook his head to get the bangs out of his eyes before stepping forward to stand behind the couch. "Ford again, eh, Russel?" his deep voice rumbled, "It's a slow, sad day for Ladder 53."

Russ chuckled. "Yeah. You can never have too much Ford. Best actor there is." He paused with a smile. "Besides that Evangeline Lilly. She's hot."

Keagan's throaty laugh filled the room as the large horse leaned up against the couch. "I suppose she is. Though I'd rather have Angelina Jolie anyday." He lowered his long head down to the level Russ's was at on the couch. "Come on, Russ. What's up? I always know something is wrong when you lapse into Ford mode."

Russel glanced at Keagan quickly, then down at his feet. The only noise in the room was from the television until Russ spoke. "I thought I found my sister. I thought I would get to see her after all of these years, but when I called the number I thought I could reach her at, some southern chick answered and said her name was Cassie, not Sarah." Russel paused and ran his hands through his hair. "I was so close. I really thought it was her. I was wrong." He sighed.

Keagan stepped around and sat on the couch next to Russ. The cushions sank as he settled his large weight down and reached out to clap the German Shepherd on the shoulder. "You'll find her some day, Russ." He ran his own hand through his black mane. "What if you hired a private detective?"

"I've thougth about it. Now that you mention it, I think I'll do that. I just want to find my sister." Russ gave his friend a lopsided grin.

Keagan nodded and leaned back on the couch. "Good. I know a few good ones who aren't too expensive."

Russ looked at the television again. "If you could do that for me, Keagan, it would make me a very happy guy."He grinned. "Not that I'm not a happy guy...it's just frustrating to not be able to find my sister." The alarm went off.

Keagan was about to agree when the alarm sounded. He leaped to his feet with a light-footedness that was decieving for how large he was. "We'll take care of it later," he said as he clopped off quickly to leap into his gear.

Russ darted after him into the truck bay. He donned his turnout gear and loaded himself into the truck. Other members from their department were doing the same thing. He quickly found out the location of the building.

Keagan leaped into the truck as well, squeezing himself into the driver's seat. "Everyone ready to roll?" he hollered.

"Yeah." Russ said quickly before reading the adress aloud. "It's a three alarm fire. Pretty big house fire. Reports of children trapped inside." Russ heard the chief say.

Keagan quickly shifted into gear and switched on the sirens. The big rig shot out of the garage and onto the road, picking up speed with its lights flashing and its sirens blaring. He brought them quickly to the address.

Russ looked ahead of them and watched as the cars got over to the side of the road for them. Millions of thoughts raced through his head. He hated it when children got trapped inside of a burning buildilng. Russ had seen it before when he was just a probie. Two little boys had gotten trapped inside and the firefighters fought to get to them in time. But when they found them, they had died becuase of smoke inhallation.
