Nathrai moved off, following his Alpha's command precisely, with Aphre following closely behind. She had forgiven Cade, and she knew it was hard for him to cope with all that was happening in their pack recently. She shivered as she scented other wolves and trotted on.

Cade and the others finally made it back to the Kinaax den. He silently curled up in a ball in the corner. Being the only Alpha was tough when leading a pack, but trying to lead one when members kept trespassing on the enemies' lands? It was daunting.

Nathrai drifted off to find something to eat. He was starving, and he didn't know why. Aphre also went off with Nathrai, leaving Cade to rest. She was also hungry, for unknown reasons. She wondered, for she had eaten just several moments before following Cade to find Maia.

Aphre had eaten her fill and went back to where Cade was lying. She stood a few metres away from him, then lay down, watching him through creamy brown eyes. Then she closed them and she drifted into an uneasy sleep.

Cade awoke from a nightmare, where the whole Kinaax pack was slaughtered. He gasped and shot up, looking around him. He was relieved that it was only a dream. He shook his grey and white coat and turned to the den's exit. When he was outside, he sat down, shaking his tail out of boredom. These days, the alpha was always preoccupied and lonely.

Nathrai came back from hunting and sat by his Alpha. "These days are uneasy ones," he said cautiously, "We can't be sure of whom to trust." He glanced back at Aphre. She was becoming more and more agitated, and he was concerned about her. If it meant killing her if she was a threat to the pack, he would do it. Anything for his leader.

Cade noted a hint of uneasyness in his voice, "Do you think there is someone in the pack we can't trust?" he asked even though he did not look at him all the while he spoke.

Nathrai paused, wondering how to phrase his thoughts. "I have a suspicion there is, but I can't be sure," he said finally, knowing it wasn't the best response.

"Well what is it?" he asked, studying Nathrai anxiously.

"It's just that... Aphre seems too eager to gain information. I'm not sure about --" he cut off his sentence as he noticed that the female wolf had suddenly disappeared, even though she had been sleeping just a few moments before. Or was she?

Cade nodded, she DID seem very anxious. He looked about when Nathrai stopped speaking. "I don't know about you... but I'm getting bad feelings about her." He stood and shook his coat. "I need to see where she is... if she's a spy or something, I ought to know."

Nathrai nodded back at his Alpha. He offered to go with Cade if he went looking for Aphre.
Meanwhile, Aphre was darting towards a large foliage patch to hide. She knew Nathrai, her close friend, had betrayed her by telling his suspicions of her to the Alpha. She was furious, and frightened. She so desperately wanted to become Alphena, so she could destroy the pack and have her own slaves! She always thought: Aphre, Alphena of Kinaax Timberwolf Pack...

Cade nodded at Nathrai's offer to come too. The more, the better. Cade picked up Aphre's scent and he could see that she was running by the space between her prints. Cade picked up speed and ran into the forest after her.

Nathrai smiled loyally and followed Cade. He scented Aphre's clean scent and checked Cade's direction.
Aphre was truly frightened now. Where could she go? If she ran into another pack's territory, she would be killed, but if she stayed, she would be marked as an outcast, or killed. Her mind was racing now, as was her heartbeats. Her fur started to grow sticky. She frantically looked around and decided her only hope was to go into an area that wasn't occupied by any territory. She fled lightly, trying to disguise her trail by leaping on fallen trees and rocks.

His moves were heavy, and he payed little attention to where he was going. He walked mostly in the shadowy part of the forest, but once every so often a patch of light woulds shine through the trees, giving a light siloughet of a large brute. Plumage was a dull charcoal that hardly glinted, but with his honey golden eyes, it gave him a creepy look. He came to a hault and lifted his head. Furrowing his brows, he sniffed the air. This land was claimed. By who, he didn't know. He thought of turning back, or if this was a good opportunity to start a new life. Not one where he wandered where ever on his lonesome.
